This is my first year with Elf on the Shelf… What does Elf do during the day? Kids wake up and find elf in his hiding spot (or mischief) after he returned from the North Pole last night, then what? does he move around the house during the day while we are at work? What are others doing????? thanks!

Hi Keri, it’s my first year too! To answer your Q’s: our Elf, Eddie, just sits in the same place and monitors McKenzie’s behavior all day…although, I haven’t put him in a sink or anything uber creative yet, in which case I’d probably move him up to a shelf where he might have a “better view.” I’m careful to not let her see me touch him, so he doesn’t lose his magic. ;) Then, sometime after dinner, he flies to the North Pole to report to Santa (aka…I put him in a kitchen cupboard). Haha. It’s been really fun so far, and I definitely haven’t gone above-and-beyond with any of his antics yet. More work for me, you know. =)

Hi.. I purchased an Elf on the Shelf for my son and his future bride last year and then decided, what the heck, we need one too, even though it’s just hubby and I…so, at the end of the holiday season last year, I purchased one for us, after all, one day there will be grandbabies, but in the meantime, I wanted to have some fun with it in my home and have hubby search for “Ollie”… Haven’t started yet, so don’t know how long he will indulge me, but I wanted to say that I’m going to work on Ollie, and I love your ideas… Thanks for that info!! With your ideas incorporated, he will be much more versatile and can hid in more places… Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Hi Nicole, I love your site! For the usually rainy Pacific NW, I just bought a pair of Hunter original short boots from Zappos. I ordered my regular size 9 but my feet felt like they were swimming in them. I wasn’t sure about going down a size. My feet are long and on the thin side with narrow heel. I called Zappos and the very next day (today) the size 8 arrived. The big toe feels slightly snug in the 8. But not much. I really wasn’t sure how they are “supposed” to fit design wise so I googled “Hunter fit guide” and found your blog! I read through and found YOUR comment about your Hunters feeling slightly snug in the toe. So I knew I was making the right choice with the size 8. The 9s are going back to Zappos shipping prepaid. I appreciate your helpful blog. I also can’t say enough good things about Zappos. They treat their customers right!
