November 2013? Really?

How is it November already?! I feel like 2013 has gone by in the blink of an eye. As I mentioned in this post, we went to Minnesota last weekend for my niece’s birthday. She and McKenzie are like sisters—they play amazingly at first, then move on to epic battles as the weekend progresses. Oy. I actually got a HILARIOUS video of them fighting, but I’m gonna keep that one to myself since McKenzie finds it embarrassing. Take my word for it, though, it’s a hoot. Regardless, they do have a lot of fun together, and love each other to pieces (most of the time).IMG_7891And all the girls had a blast at Abbey’s dress-up birthday party. There was an amazing Dairy Queen ice cream cake and a pink pony piñata, which they eventually stomped to pieces. It was hilarious!

McKenzie was a bride this year, for both her school dance and Abbey’s party. There was a costume exchange at her school, and we got an old flower girl dress. I made a veil for her out of tulle and elastic, then added some flowers and jewels. I also made her a bouquet of flowers wrapped in tulle…the whole costume was maybe $7. I think these photos will be super fun to have at her wedding someday!LittleBride

While we were in Minnesota my sister also snapped some pictures of me & the kiddos. Like most people, I’m hyper-critical of pictures of myself, but I think we got some nice shots! Now I just need to get some with Jon in them! Speaking of Jon, McKenzie and I re-watched “Two Weeks in Hell” on Netflix about the Special Forces Assessment and Selection, and that shit is CRAZY! I honestly can’t believe he’s doing that right now. I can’t wait to hear from him in about 2 weeks!IMG_7565IMG_7528And finally, yesterday we went Trick-or-Treating with some friends. McKenzie was a kitty this time (for the sake of warmth), and Bennett was a puppy—the same costume as McKenzie when she was 3 months old at Halloween! So cute. =)

All the pictures in this post are great! I’ll have to watch that documentary on Netflix this weekend – I have no idea what they go through…and based on your reaction, I’m scared to see what it’s like.
