The past few days have been a whirl-wind. McKenzie had such a wonderful birthday! First, Papa & Grandma came up for a quick visit and treated us to a fun lunch at the Nitty Gritty Birthday Bar here in Madison. McKenzie got her own balloon, mug, and mini-birthday sundae. She loved everything about it! Afterward, we went to Target and she picked out an awesome remote control Barbie car. Then we went to the hospital to have some time with Bennett. Around that time, Grandpa Jeff flew in for his visit! We kept it a surprise for McKenzie and she was so happy to see him! Grandpa got to see Bennett for the first time, then we went to Ella’s Deli for dinner. Of course she had to have a ride on the carousel. =)
On Sunday, we had her first birthday party with friends. It was really fun, and she had a blast. She didn’t want anything to do with Momma! They played in her room, all wearing their metallic colorful party hats. Then the kiddos made mini-murph pizzas for lunch, and we all noshed on ice-cream cake.
On to little B-Man! He turned 37 weeks on Sunday, and magically he started eating. It was WONDERFUL! By Monday, he had taken 80% of his feedings by mouth and got that darn feeding tube out of his nose! Happy Momma here! He gained weight yesterday, and they said he can come home tomorrow (Wednesday)! I was/am ecstatic. Now I feel like I’m nesting all over again, getting the house ready and such. And he’s getting all ready at the hospital. He gets his car seat test tonight, and got his circumcision during the day. It was HORRIBLE. I chose to stay in the room…I thought I’d be tough, but I got really light-headed. The sight of blood doesn’t bother me, but it was pretty graphic and awful. I don’t recommend watching if you have a choice. It looks so sad, and there’s a clot on his little penis right now. As long as it turns out okay, I guess I don’t care—but it was certainly traumatic for me. Did I say I get to take him home tomorrow?! Because I’m so excited!
And here is a pic of me 2.5 weeks post-baby. I’m 7lbs below my pre-pregnancy weight, so that’s amazing. I give my boobs 100% of the credit—those bad girls are MACHINES! I have over 300 ounces in the freezer now—and we totally ran out of room! My supply is crazy. Hopefully my weight keeps going in that direction (another silver lining to an awful pregnancy). Anyhow, I can’t wait to have my sweet baby boy home TOMORROW! YAY! It was getting really depressing having all this sweet little baby gear around the house with no one to use it. ;) We can be a family now.
