On Tuesday, August 6th, Baby Bennett Alexander made his arrival at 2:32pm after a pretty easy induction. He was 5lbs 10oz, 18½ inches long, pink, and screaming his little lungs out. Not bad for a 34 weeker! As I mentioned, he needs mandatory NICU time until 35 weeks gestation, so we have a few more days at minimum before we can bring him home. He’s doing great though: regulating his own body temperature, breathing on his own, and we’re starting to increase his feedings of breast milk (I’m pumping until we establish a good latch for nursing). His bilirubin levels are a little high, so he needs a photo-therapy blanket right now. It makes me so sad to see him in there, but he’s been such a trooper. His cuddles make me melt! I was discharged yesterday and I can’t wait to have him home. So that’s where I’ve been, & that’s where I’ll be for the next week or two. He’s such a little prince.
And yes, my itching is MUCH improved! Not nearly 100%, but I’d say it’s 65% resolved. Thank goodness that’s (almost) over!
