My baby shower was this weekend, and I had such a good time! There was a great turn-out and I’m so thankful to everyone who came! It was at my house, so it was a little stressful…the cleaning, the set up, the clean up.
McKenzie had a blast playing in her room with her friends and the living room was for the grown ups. It was a little cramped, but I think we made it work. Sorry I don’t have more pics! And I’m not putting any up of me, because I looked gross. I was so busy getting the house ready I didn’t even have time to do my hair. *sigh*
My amazing friend Anna was one of my hosts and she made all the decorations (above)…didn’t she do an amazing job?! I think she should seriously start an Etsy shop! The onesie banner was SO stinkin’ cute! And my sister (the other host) made the most amazing lemon-raspberry cupcakes with lemon buttercream frosting. They were so yummy! There was raspberry jam filling, and the frosting was to die for. She was such an amazing help all week with my appointments & watching McKenzie & such.
Anywho, for the shower my sis also made mason jar cups and we filled them with blue ‘simply lemonade.’ I LOVE simply lemonade. Instead of a regular lid, we used cupcake foils and poked the straws through. Very clever, I thought! And easy-peasy.
And here’s the “Guest Book”…didn’t it turn out great? I separated the two-ply matting and put the ribbon between the layers. I love it. And I also love McKenzie’s giant signature at the top. I can’t wait to see Baby Boy’s little newborn picture in the frame in less than 5 weeks! Holy cow, that’s so close. I can’t believe I’m already 31 weeks.
Also, the gifts were amazing and I’m SO grateful to everyone who spoiled me (us)! From adorable newborn clothes, to a high-chair, to an amazing in-ear thermometer (wish I had one with McKenzie as an infant!), beautiful Aden & Anais swaddling blankets, Moby Wrap, Sleep Sheep, toys, rattles, a pack n’ play, and so much more! I am seriously overwhelmed by all my friends and family coming together to celebrate Baby Boy. I can’t wait til he’s here. Mostly because I’ll be done itching, which is still horrific, but obviously I’m excited to meet him. Oh, and I mailed off ALL my “Thank You’s” today…aren’t you so proud of me? Haha.
ANYWAY. In other news, I bought this swing today! I’ve been eying it for awhile. A long while! I can’t wait to get it in the mail & put it together. I love the colors, and the fact that it’s a swing/bouncer combo…it’ll be great in our 2-bedroom condo until we move. Definitely a space saver…plus, it’s gorgeous. The only other thing I “need” before Baby Boy arrives is a diaper bag, and I’m currently bidding on a beautiful Petunia Picklebottom on eBay. I’ll share some pics if I win. ;) And now it’s the scramble to get ready! I want to have everything sorted and in order in case pre-term labor strikes and he makes an early appearance…full-on nesting mode, commence!
((Oh, and I started taking 5mg of Ambien/night, because waking up every hour and only getting 5 hours of sleep made me non-functional as a parent/human. It works AMAZINGLY. Obviously I would prefer NOT to take it, but I’ve gotta do what I’ve gotta do. The itching isn’t improved at all, so I legitimately can’t sleep…in fact, I had a giant scratch down my face on the day of my Baby Shower from clawing myself. Oh boy. I mentioned that I’ve started the Plasmapheresis 2x/week to try and combat the itchiness, but I still feel like my skin is on fire 24/7. And I have no idea what my Bile Acids are doing. I had labs done today, so I’m dying to know the results. They might need to take Baby Boy out even earlier if the Acid levels soar, because that’s what causes high risk of stillbirth. Anyway, I digress…I’m elated to be getting sleep, I forgot how good it feels to be well-rested.))
